Book title Submission

FAQ

  • Instead of a traditional guest book, we’re creating a custom piece of artwork for Joyce, a bookshelf made entirely of book spines.

Each spine will feature a book title submitted by a guest.

When complete, it will look like a beautiful “Collector’s Edition” or “bookshelf portrait” that captures Joyce’s story through the eyes of the people who know and love her.

  • Guests are asked to submit a book title inspired by Joyce by March 1.

You do not need to provide an actual book or explanation for title choice.

  • Only that the title should be Joyce-inspired.

    Your book title can be:

    • An actual publication or imagined.

    • Funny, heartfelt, poetic, clever, dramatic, or wildly specific

  • Yes. Your book title should be 40 characters or less.

  • Please submit your title by Sunday, March 1 so the artwork can be completed in time for the party.

  • Submit your title through the RSVP form (preferred) or reply directly to your invitation text.

  • A couple may either submit one title for each guest individually, or submit a single title jointly for both guests.

  • No, just submit your title by March 1. Think of this as signing a guest book in advance, but in a personalized way.

  • Try thinking of:

    • A phrase Joyce says a lot

    • A memory you associate with her

    • A quality she’s known for

    • A running joke

    • Something she loves (travel, cooking, hosting, fun, honesty, etc.)

If you’re stuck, submit something simple, heartfelt, and true.

  • No, you don’t need to bring anything related to the artwork to the party. Just submit your title by March 1 and your artwork contribution is complete.

  • Here are examples of the types of titles that work well:

    • The Woman Who Could Do It All

    • How to Make Cooking for 30 Look Easy

    • You Had Me At Hotel

    • Seventy Chapters of Style and Grit

    • Truth Served Sugarcoat Free

    • Joyce’s Unwritten Rules of Hosting

    • Passport Stamps & Vineyard Visits

    • Interpreter of Maladies

  • Your title becomes part of the bookshelf artwork. At the party, Joyce will see the finished piece made from everyone’s titles.
